"Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord." - Romans 6:11
Life is often filled with heartache and pain, and this world is a difficult place in which to live. Even though we may have many material things, many people feel an emptiness inside and wonder what purpose there really is to life. Only Jesus Christ can fill that emptiness and bring real peace and fulfillment to your life! That's why God gave us His Holy Word the Bible. There are several things He wants us to know about The Truth. Read below to see how you can be saved and have eternal life.
THE BAD NEWS
First, the bad news - the truth about our sin. All of us have sinned. “For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23).
We deserve eternal punishment in hell for our sins – no matter how “big” or how “little” our sins are. “For the wages of sin is death…” (Romans 6:23a). “… He that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.” (John 3:36b).
THE GOOD NEWS
Now, the good news – SALVATION through Jesus Christ!
God does not want anyone to perish in hell. “The Lord is… not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.” (2 Peter 3:9). “… The gift of God is eternal life.” (Romans 6:23b).
CAN WE SAVE OURSELVES?
We cannot save ourselves. “Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us…through Jesus Christ our Savior.” (Titus 3:5-6). “For by grace are ye saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God; not of works lest any man should boast.” (Ephesians 2:8-9).
Christ paid our penalty for sin when He died on the cross. “But God commendeth His love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:8).
His perfect, sinless blood was shed for you and for me. “…ye were not redeemed with corruptible things…but with the precious blood of Christ…” (1 Peter 1:18-19).
HOW TO GET SAVED!
What must you do to be saved? “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved.” (Acts 16:31). “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” (Romans 10:13).
The moment you put your faith and trust in Jesus Christ, God promises to forgive you of all of your sin and to give you life for eternity with Him in heaven. “He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life…” (John 3:36a). “These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God that ye may know that ye have eternal life…” (1 John 5:13).
NOW IS THE TIME ! ! !
"Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation." (2 Corinthians 6:2) Right now, tell Jesus Christ that you are a sinner and ask for His forgiveness. Tell Jesus you believe in His death, burial, and resurrection to save you from your sins. Repent (turn away) from your sins and put your faith in Jesus Christ. He will grant you eternal life in heaven.
